Introducing the T33284 Premium No. 6 Fore Plane
The No. 6 Fore Plane is designed for hand planing tasks on large wooden surfaces. With dimensions of 18" in length and 2-3/8" in width, it is suitable for truing rough boards, smoothing surfaces, and preparing wood for finishing within the Stanley numbering system for long-length planes.
Constructed with a frog extending to the sole, the body and frog are made from accurately machined and graded ductile cast-iron, with fully ground sides and sole. The plane features an adjuster for blade advancement and retraction, along with side-to-side adjustments. The machined fit between frog and body ensures stability, allowing for a "zero" mouth opening for fine shavings even on challenging woods.
The blade, made from high carbon steel, is hardened and tempered to 60-62 Rockwell C, precision ground to 3mm thickness, and features a single-piece cap iron design for rigid clamping.
Key components of the T33284 include stainless steel frog locating pins and screws, a shaped, sanded, and sealed hardwood knob and handle, and a polished brass lever cap, screws, and adjusting wheel.
This fore plane is suitable for larger surfaces and demanding planing tasks like removing rough saw marks or leveling uneven surfaces. It comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and ensuring freedom from factory defects.
